Even more than the United States, according to the news portal Tagesschau.<br \/>\nEvery year, around nine million trees are shipped from tiny Denmark to various corners of the world. Half of these go to Germany, a neighboring country that is a key market for Christmas tree growers. Trees are exported to Dubai, Vietnam, and Hong Kong.<br \/>\nIn Denmark, Christmas trees are grown on 20,000 hectares of land. In 2024, this generated revenue of approximately 160 million euros. The key to this success is the Nordmann fir. In the 1980s, it displaced the blue spruce as the most popular Christmas tree in Europe.
