Kosovo’s ruling party, Self-Determination, led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, won a landslide victory in the snap parliamentary elections. The Central Electoral Commission in Pristina announced on Sunday, December 28, after counting votes at nearly all polling stations, that Self-Determination had won 49.8% of the vote.
\nThus, it will receive almost half of the seats in the new parliament and, together with representatives of a number of ethnic minorities, will secure a government majority, predicts the portal koha.net.
\nThe opposition Democratic Party of Kosovo and Democratic League of Kosovo are in second and third place, with 21% and 13.6%, respectively. Former Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj’s conservative Alliance for the Future of Kosovo is in fourth place with 7.6%.
\nThe Serbian minority is entitled to ten seats in the 120-seat parliament, and other ethnic groups are entitled to another ten.
\nThe current parliamentary elections in Kosovo are the second since the beginning of the year.
