The Walt Disney Co. board of directors has voted to name Josh D’Amaro, who currently heads the theme parks division, as the company’s chief executive officer.
\nD’Amaro, 54, will be named to the role on March 18, the day of Disney’s annual meeting of shareholders. He will join the board of directors immediately following that meeting.
\nD’Amaro will replace Bob Iger, 74, who will return to the role of chief executive officer at the end of 2022 after a two-year hiatus. He previously led the company from 2005 to 2020. Iger had planned to return to Disney for only a two-year term, but the search for a successor has been a long one. He will remain on Disney’s board of directors until his retirement on December 31, 2026.
\nD’Amaro, who has been with Disney for 28 years, now heads the company’s largest division, which includes parks, hotels, and cruise ships. The division’s revenue is expected to be 36 billion dollars in fiscal year 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
