On April 10, the Shoto Museum of Art in Tokyo held the opening ceremony of an exhibition of ancient Turkmen national costumes, handicrafts, exquisite embroidery, and jewelry under the slogan “Crafts of Central Asia,” as reported by the turkmenistan.gov.tm.
\nThe exhibition will run from April 11 to June 14, 2026, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
\nThe exhibition aims to introduce residents of the Japanese capital to unique Turkmen works of art from the collection of the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art, to reveal the rich culture of Central Asia, located along the Great Silk Road, and to showcase Turkmen embroidery, traditional handicrafts, and silver jewelry.
\nThe exhibition features approximately 200 exhibits, including Turkmen silver jewelry, the traditional keteni costume, embroidered women’s robes called “chyrpy,” and other handicrafts reflecting the nation’s centuries-old traditions.
