On the eve of International Nowruz Day, a concert by the Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Nury Mukhiyev, was held in the Grand Hall of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva. In recognition of 2025 being designated as the “International Year of Peace and Trust,” the program featured works by both Turkmen and international composers.
\nThe concert opened with “Melancholy” by Czech composer Eduard Napravn\u00edk, with Nury Mukhiyev conducting. The delicate and contemplative melody, through which the composer seemed to bid farewell to winter, was followed by Bayram Khudaynazarov’s Concertino “Yylgaylar.” The national Turkmen music provided a striking contrast to the Czech melody.
\nThis feeling was further intensified by the orchestra’s performance of “Destan-Concert No. 1” by Chary Nurymov. The vivid musical imagery and expressive depiction of extraordinary events completely captivated the audience. The soloists\u2014Nepes Jumageldyev (flute) and Kuvvat Orazov (oboe)\u2014performed under the baton of student conductor Kowus Byashimov. The audience warmly applauded the musicians in gratitude for the emotions they evoked.
\nA shift to a different culture and era followed with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The Suite for Trombone and Orchestra from the opera “Eugene Onegin” was performed by international competition laureate Dovran Gylyjov.
\nThe final piece of the program was another work by Tchaikovsky. His Violin Concerto was performed by international competition laureate Aybelek Mukhiyeva, with Nury Mukhiyev returning to the conductor’s podium. Aybelek once again masterfully performed the intricate melodies, captivating the audience’s attention.
