On March 20, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Mohamed Hamel.
\nDuring the meeting, the sides discussed the current situation on global energy markets, as well as interaction between organizations and specialized structures. The presence of vast potential for developing effective partnership in the gas sector was emphasized.
\nAn interested exchange of views took place on the issues of Turkmenistan\u2019s accession to the GECF.
\nThe parties expressed confidence that the results of the International Conference \u201cInternational Year of Peace and Trust: the Role of Interregional Economic Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development\u201d will give a great impetus to further expansion of cooperation in the energy sector.
\nThe Turkmen side proposed to establish work on holding relevant trainings and seminars with the participation of GECF experts.
\nThe Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan invited representatives of the GECF to actively participate in events organized by Turkmenistan within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.
