India’s population has approached 1.5 billion people, and will increase by another 200 million in the future, according to a report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), TASS reports.
\n“India is currently the most populous country in the world, with a population of about 1.5 billion people. This number is expected to increase to 1.7 billion before starting to decline in about 40 years,” the report says.
\nOn average, one woman in India gives birth to two children, the document notes.
\nLast year’s UN World Population Prospects report said that India’s population would peak in the early 1960s at about 1.7 billion people.
\nThe world’s population, according to the international organization’s forecast, will reach 10.3 billion people in the mid-2080s.
\nIn January, it was reported that China’s population would shrink by 1.39 million people in 2024, to 1.408 billion. The American newspaper The Wall Street Journal wrote that China could face economic and demographic tensions by 2035.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
