Asian Development Bank was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan
\nOn June 24, a round table dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan\u2019s cooperation with the Asian Development Bank was held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
\nThe round table was attended by the relevant Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, heads of profile ministries and agencies of the country, banking institutions, a representative delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) headed by the Vice President of ADB for South, Central and West Asia Yang Yingming, as well as experts in the field of economics and development.
\nIn the opening part of the event, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov empasized the constructive nature of the 25-year cooperation between Turkmenistan and ADB, that has made an important contribution to the development and strengthening of the country\u2019s economy. Such areas as energy, transport, urban development and strengthening of Turkmenistan\u2019s private sector were noted among the priority areas of collaboration.
\nIn his speech, ADB Vice President for South, Central and West Asia Yang Yingming emphasized that ADB\u2019s long-standing partnership with Turkmenistan is based on mutual trust and respect. He also emphasized the significance of the meeting with the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held the previous day in Ashgabat.
\nDuring the round table, the participants were informed about new projects of Turkmenistan with ADB.
\nIn particular, the significance of projects scheduled for implementation in the smart city Arkadag was noted. This was also emphasized at the meeting of the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan with the ADB representative in Arkadag city in May this year. In this regard, the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Committee for Construction of Arkadag City under the President of Turkmenistan and the Asian Development Bank signed during the mentioned meeting was emphasized.
\nIn addition, the roundtable participants discussed the prospects of partnership between Turkmenistan and ADB, including in such areas as financing of infrastructure projects, private sector support, human capital development and sustainable development.
\nSpecial attention was paid to the diversification of Turkmenistan\u2019s energy sector, modernization of railway transport, and development of small and medium-sized businesses with the support of ADB\u2019s financial and credit services.
\nEmphasizing the constructive nature of the country\u2019s interaction with ADB, the participants noted that the bilateral partnership is currently being implemented within the framework of the Cooperation Strategy with Turkmenistan for 2024-2028.
\nThe event became an important platform for summarizing the results of collaboration between Turkmenistan and ADB for a quarter of a century and identifying new directions for further cooperation.
\nUpon the completion of the roundtable, the Protocol of Agreement on Crediting the Project of Medical Vocational School Construction in Ashgabat was signed between the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and ADB.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
