A new cross-border tourist route-ring has been created in Central Asia in the direction of “Turkmenistan – Khorezm – Karakalpakstan – Kazakhstan”. It unites unique cultural, historical and natural attractions of four regions and opens up new opportunities for bright discoveries for travelers, as reported by the country’s MIC.
\nParticular attention in developing the route was paid to the convenience of logistics and the diversity of the program.
\nTourists are offered various travel formats such as gastronomic tourism – tasting national dishes; ecotourism – acquaintance with the natural landscapes of the region; ethnographic tourism – immersion in the traditions and crafts of peoples; pilgrimage tourism – visiting holy places and spiritual monuments.
\nThe route covers more than 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and monuments of national significance. Key points include ancient Merv and Kunya-Urgench in Turkmenistan, Ichan-Kala in Khorezm, museums and fortresses of Karakalpakstan, as well as picturesque landscapes and sacred sites of Mangistau in Kazakhstan: the Torysh and Bozjyra valleys, Mount Sherkala and the Shakpak-Ata mausoleum.
