The grand opening of the “Korkut Ata” Turkic World Film Festival took place in Aktau.
\nAccording to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, it is an initiative of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), which unites the national film organizations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.
\nOver the years, the festival has been held in Istanbul, Bursa, Shusha, and Anau, and this year, Kazakhstan takes up the baton for the first time.
\nThe grand opening took place at the House of Friendship and began with a red carpet screening of “QAITADAN,” the debut feature by director Duman Yerkimbek.
\nThe festival program includes creative meetings with leading figures in the film industry, a film summit, screenings of competition and non-competition films, and a cultural program with visits to natural attractions in the Mangystau region.
\nThe closing ceremony and awards ceremony will take place on October 4.
\nThe jury will determine the winners in the categories “Best Feature Film,” “Best Director,” “Best Screenplay,” “Best Actress,” and “Best Actor.”
