\nThe Turkmenistan national team, coached by Rovshan Meredov, is training twice a day in preparation for the important match. Theoretical sessions are held in the morning at The Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo, where the team is staying, and tactical training takes place in the afternoon at the Kelaniya Football Complex.
\nAccording to the draw, the Turkmenistan team was placed in Group D with the teams of Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Sri Lanka. The national team had a successful start to the qualifying tournament, winning two of their two matches (a 2-1 victory over Taipei and a 3-1 victory over Thailand). This puts the team comfortably at the top of their group with six points.
