During the working visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the United States, a business forum titled “Turkmen-American Business Cooperation: New Opportunities and Prospects for Partnership Development,” was held.
\nRepresentatives from government agencies and business circles from Turkmenistan and the United States participated, including John Deere, General Electric, SpaceX, Oppenheimer Holdings Inc., as well as the World Bank and the IMF.
\nBefore the forum, participants toured an exhibition of Turkmen products. The exhibit highlighted national export opportunities, ranging from food and textiles to medical products from Arkadag Medical Klaster Management.
\nEric Stewart, Executive Director of the Turkmenistan-USA Business Council, opened the forum. He noted the Council’s importance as a platform for establishing contacts between private sector entities in the two countries.
\nThe Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan spoke about favorable investment conditions and invited American companies to participate in projects in industry, energy, and other sectors. US representatives confirmed their interest in cooperation and their willingness to share technologies and expertise.
\nThe head of Turkmenistan’s State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs presented information on the current financial and banking system and interactions with international organizations, including Fitch Ratings. The deputy head of the T\u00fcrkmengaz concern discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, including green energy and the diversification of export routes.
\nParticular attention was paid to the activities of the Turkmenistan-USA Business Council, established in 2008. It is viewed as a key mechanism for developing bilateral economic dialogue.
\nThe parties discussed the modernization of energy infrastructure, the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies, and the expansion of partnerships in renewable energy. Investment, digitalization, cybersecurity, and the development of high technology were also touched upon.
\nTurkmen entrepreneurs presented private sector projects, including in construction and processing industries, noting their interest in collaborating with American companies in the supply of equipment and environmentally friendly technologies.
\nThe forum included bilateral meetings to discuss specific areas of cooperation.
\nThe business forum served as a platform for exchanging opinions and strengthening the Turkmen-American partnership.
