The Research, Design, and Standards Organization (RD&S) has begun the first tests of a hydrogen-fueled train, The Indian Express reported.
\nThe test run is taking place between Jind and Sonipat (Haryana). According to the newspaper, during the tests, specialists will determine the train’s braking distance in emergency mode.
\nThe Indian hydrogen train consists of ten cars, two of which are lead cars with a total capacity of 2400 kW. To supply the train with fuel, a special plant was built in Jind that produces hydrogen using electrolysis.
\nA key feature of this technology is its complete environmental friendliness: the only engine exhaust is water vapor, ensuring minimal carbon dioxide emissions. Similar trains are currently operating in Germany, Sweden, Japan, and China.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
