The winners of the Golden Globes, one of the main awards of the film awards season and considered the harbinger of the Oscars, have been announced. The 83rd annual awards ceremony, organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, was held as usual at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.
\nThe award for best drama film was presented by Nikki Glazer at the ceremony. The film, about the life of English playwright William Shakespeare, was directed by Oscar-winning Chinese director Chloe Zhao. The screenplay beat out three non-English language films (The Price of Sensibility, The Mysterious Inanimate, and The Simple Incident), as well as Frankenstein and The Sinners.
\nThe Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy went to “One Battle After Another .” The film also beat out two other non-English-language films (“No More Trouble,” “New Wave”), including “Bugonia,” “Blue Moon,” and “Marty the Martyr.” Paul Thomas Anderson, who wrote and directed the film, was nominated for best director and best screenplay.
\nWagner Moura, the star of the Brazilian film “The Mysterious Soul,” won the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama. The film was also named best foreign language film not in the English language. The film, directed by Kleber Mendon\u00e7a Filho, stood out from several strong candidates. The award for best actor in a musical or comedy went to Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet, the star of “The Master Martyr”.
\nBest Actress in a Drama Film went to Jessie Buckley for her role in “Hamnet,” and Rose Byrne won the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Film for her role in “If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You.”
\nThe award for best supporting actor went to Swedish actor Stellan Skarsg\u00e5rd for his role in the film “The Price of Sensibility,” and the award for best supporting actress went to Teyana Taylor for her role in the film “War on War.”
\nAlso, the best animated film was chosen as the Netflix animated film “K-Pop Devil Hunters.” The song “Golden” from the animation won the award for best song.
\nLudwig G\u00f6ransson, the composer of the music for Brian Krugler’s film “The Sinners,” was awarded the Best Original Score award. The film was also nominated for the Cinematographic and Box Office Achievement Award, which is presented for the third time at the Golden Globes.
\nAmong the series, the HBO Max series “Pitt Hospital” was chosen as the best drama series, and the Apple TV series “Studio” was chosen as the best musical or comedy series.
\nThe actors who played the lead roles in both series, Noah Wyle and Seth Rogen, were nominated for best actor awards, respectively. Rhea Seehorn (“Pluribus”) was nominated for best actress in a drama series, and Jean Smart (“The Tricksters,” Hacks) was nominated for best actress in a musical or comedy series.
\nNetflix’s “Adolescence” also won the award for best limited series, anthology series or television movie. Stephen Graham, who starred in the series, was named best actor in a limited series, Owen Cooper was named best supporting actor in a limited series, and Erin Doherty was named best supporting actress in a limited series.
