Chilean President Gabriel Boric announced that his country, along with Brazil and Mexico, has nominated former President Michelle Bachelet for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations.
\nBoric thanked Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum for their support and confidence in supporting Bachelet, saying that \u201cthis will allow Latin America and the Caribbean to have a voice in developing solutions to the great challenges of our time.\u201d
\nBrazilian President Lula da Silva also expressed her support for Bachelet on social media, saying that the time has come for a woman to lead the United Nations. He noted that Bachelet, who previously served as Minister of Defense and Health and became the first woman to lead Chile, has a unique political career characterized by her innovative approach.
