Yeserday an event was held at the Y\u0131ld\u0131z Hotel in the capital to mark the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day. The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan, Bandaru Wilsonbabu, and other employees of the diplomatic mission, representatives of the media, and other guests.<\/p>\n

\nAt the entrance of the hotel, pictures depicting; the historical and cultural values of India, pictures of people who made various discoveries, and significant dates were placed.
\nAt the opening of the event, Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu made a speech; and spoke about the relations between the two countries. According to the diplomat, the ITEC program (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) was established by the Government of India in 1964, and its main goal is to share India’s development experience and technical knowledge with other countries.<\/p>\n

To date, expertise in areas such as information technology, governance, and rural development has been shared with over 160 partner countries. Training is provided at over 120 leading educational institutions in India. To date, over 500 Turkmen government employees have participated in the program, and over 200 students have received higher education funded by the Government of India.<\/p>\n

According to Wilsonbabu, it is planned to send Indian specialists to Ashgabat to teach Hindi and Ayurveda in the near future. It is worth noting that on January 21 of this year, the opening ceremonies of the Ayurveda classroom at the Myrat Garryev State Medical University of Turkmenistan and the Hindi classroom at the Dovletmammet Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages were held.
\nDuring the event, the ITEC program graduates working in various institutions and higher education institutions of the country shared their experience.
\nYoga exercises were also demonstrated, several Hindi songs were performed by Tachnabat Yomudova, and Indian dances were performed.
\nAt the end of the event, the guests were treated to a meal, and a commemorative photo was taken.<\/p>\n
