On March 15, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan and the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) held an international conference, “The Role of Neutrality in Strengthening International Peace,” in Islamabad, marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality.
The event, attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, heads and staff of diplomatic missions and agencies of the UN and international organizations accredited in Pakistan, the ECO Science Foundation, representatives of analytical centers, prominent representatives of Pakistan’s business community, as well as local media.
During the event, featured speeches highlighting Turkmenistan’s 30-year neutrality, recognized by UN resolutions as contributing to regional peace. Ambassador A. Movlamov emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan’s initiatives for global peace. Speakers underscored the alignment of Turkmenistan’s neutrality with UN goals and its recognition as a global asset.
Notably, the conference coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Islamabad Declaration, adopted on March 15, 1995, at the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in the same venue, which first recognized and supported Neutral Status of Turkmenistan.
