A delegation from China’s Xinhua News Agency engaged with researchers at the Institute of International Relations of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during a working visit to Ashgabat. This meeting, held on March 26th, focused on strengthening media cooperation.
Prior to this, Xinhua correspondents met with various Turkmen media outlets, including local television stations, online news publications, and the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH).
The primary goal of the Chinese journalists’ visit was to build professional relationships with local media, share journalistic expertise, and coordinate collaboration across media platforms to enhance bilateral relations between China and Turkmenistan.
At the Institute of International Relations, discussions centered on current regional issues in Central Asia. Zhao Yu, Director of Xinhua’s Central Asia Department, shared his insights on key areas of cooperation between China and Central Asian nations.
Researchers from the Institute’s Scientific Center for Strategic Studies highlighted Turkmenistan’s progress since independence and its commitment to neutrality. Both sides expressed a shared interest in widely publicize the anniversary celebrations related to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, with the Chinese delegation indicating their desire to participate in the commemorative events.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to enhance professional communication, including potential reciprocal visits between Turkmen analysts and journalists of “Xinhua.”
