A large-scale environmental project aimed at developing a sustainable and energy-efficient construction sector has been launched in Turkmenistan.
The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Program and with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Ministry of Construction and Architecture, the Ministry of Energy and the Ashgabat city administration, coordinates the project. Its goal is to form a modern regulatory framework that promotes environmentally responsible construction.
Among the priority areas is the development of new standards that reduce energy consumption and increase the sustainability of buildings. It is also planned to integrate the provisions of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change into the country’s construction practices.
It is expected that the implementation of the project will be an important step towards fulfilling Turkmenistan’s international commitments in the field of environmental protection and will contribute to the formation of a “green” economy.
