Turkmenistan is actively working to expand natural gas exports to Europe, as stated by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the first Central Asia-Italy summit. As reported Turkmenistan: Today news agency.
The President emphasized that Turkmenistan, which has huge gas reserves, is consistently diversifying its supply routes to world markets. In this context, projects to bring Turkmen gas to the European market are of paramount importance for the country.
In addition to energy, Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted transport, industry, financial and private sectors as key areas of cooperation in the Central Asia-Italy format. Particular attention is paid to digitalization, green technologies and artificial intelligence.
The head of state also noted the prospects for cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy, confirming his readiness for a mutually beneficial partnership with Italian companies, since natural gas will remain the main source of hydrogen production in the coming decades.
Turkmenistan also expressed interest in participating in new transport corridors along the Asia-Europe axis, including the promising “Middle Corridor” running through Central Asia and the Caspian region.
In the field of ecology and climate, the priorities for cooperation included increasing the energy efficiency of industrial facilities, rational water use and the introduction of “green” technologies.
The Central Asia-Italy summit was held on May 30 in Astana, bringing together the leaders of all countries in the region and the Prime Minister of Italy.
