In honor of the World Bicycle Day, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2018 at the initiative of Turkmenistan, diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan around the world organized sports events and cycling races.
On June 1, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a mass bicycle race in the city of Tashkent, which was attended by Turkmen students studying at various higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Turkmen diaspora.
In addition, on the initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan, a friendly football tournament was organized in the city of Tashkent with the participation of teams representing foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Uzbekistan.
On June 2, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also organized a bicycle marathon in the city of Riyadh.
Employees of the diplomatic mission and members of their families, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, permanently residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as representatives of mass media took part in the event. During the event, a short-distance cycling race was organized for teenagers and children, followed by a long-distance cycling race for other participants.
On June 3, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkiye held sports events dedicated to the World Bicycle Day.
Employees of the diplomatic mission, representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, mass media of the Republic of Turkiye and student youth took part in the events. The event was held on a special cycling track on the shores of Lake Eymir near Ankara.
On this day, a bicycle race organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia took place in Tbilisi.
Representatives of the National Cycling Federation of Georgia, athletes and coaches of Georgia took part in the cycling event. The route runs through the streets of Tbilisi, as well as the ancient capital of Georgia, Mtskheta.
