The award ceremony was held for the winners of the competition on the development of visual materials on the importance of preserving biodiversity in the specially protected natural areas of Turkmenistan, as reported official website of the Turkmenistan.
The competition was organized within the framework of the project “Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High Nature Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for Multiple Benefits,” which is being implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program and the Global Environment Facility.
The competition was timed to coincide with World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5. The places were distributed as follows: first place was awarded to Dilnaza Sapaeva from Dashoguz velayat (drawing titled “Beautiful Nature”). Second place went to Rakhmet Toymyradov, a student at the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan (work titled “Animal Tracks”) and Maria Bekzhanova from Dashoguz velayat (drawing titled “Life is Nature”). Bibipatma Mammedova from Dashoguz velayat (drawing titled “Nature is Life” and Iskander Annamukhammedov (work titled “The Importance of Biodiversity Conservation” took third place.
The winners’ works will be used to create informational stands, which will be installed in the Amudarya and Gaplangyr State Nature Reserves.
