On April 18, in the city of Balkanabat, a modern, multifunctional sports complex with a 10 000-seat capacity was transformed into a veritable arena for a sporting festival. As part of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan’s initiative, the “Grassroots” children’s football festival was held there, bringing together hundreds of young footballers.
This event was more than just a competition; it was a large-scale sporting celebration aimed at developing children’s interest in sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The young participants not only demonstrated their skills on the field but also mastered various ball handling techniques, the basics of team play, and experienced the most important value of sport: friendship.
One of the festival’s main goals was to demonstrate that football is accessible to everyone and enjoyable, not just at the professional level. The event also served as a launching pad for future talented players and encouraged active and rewarding leisure activities for children.
The stadium’s green field featured various play and training areas, where children, under the guidance of experienced coaches, performed engaging exercises. Sincere smiles and a lively interest in sports were the highlight of this celebration.
“Today’s festival is a clear demonstration of how much the younger generation loves sports. We are truly delighted to see such talented and motivated children in Balkanabat,” the organizers noted.
At the end of the event, all young participants were presented with balls.
The Balkanabat festival was a shining example of the efforts aimed at developing and popularizing football among children across the country. Initiatives like these once again demonstrate the great potential of football in Turkmenistan and the sustained interest of young people in the sport.
