On April 23, an event dedicated to International Chinese Language Day was held at the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly. The Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan organized it.
As part of the program, students were introduced to Chinese calligraphy, painting, traditional clothing, and games. Workshops on elements of intangible cultural heritage, including kirigami and rubbing (estampage), were also held. The event concluded with a concert program in Chinese prepared by university students.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China delivered a welcome speech to Turkmenistan, Ji Shumin. The importance of linguistic and cultural exchange between countries is emphasized.
“Civilizations differ — and therefore communicate; they communicate — and therefore learn from each other; they learn — and therefore develop. The motto of this year’s International Chinese Language Day reflects our hope that language will serve as a bridge,” the diplomat noted.
The ambassador also highlighted China’s dynamic development and technological potential. “Choosing the Chinese language means opportunities… the Chinese language will help you choose progress together with a dynamically rising country,” Ji Shumin said.
The speech also noted that expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and China creates additional prospects for educational and humanitarian exchanges.
The event became a platform for cultural dialogue and contributed to the popularization of the Chinese language among young people in Turkmenistan.
