The second Global Sustainability Innovation Competition (GSIC 2026) was held in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, from April 17–19. It brought together young scientists and researchers from 12 countries. Turkmenistan returned from the competition with two silver medals.
The team from the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University won first place. Lecturer M. Khozhanepesov and students Y. and B. Khudaiberdiyev presented a design for an autonomous solar distillation system for arid regions. The jury highly praised the technical sophistication of the project and its practical application in environmental protection.
The team from the Myrat Garryev State Medical University won second place. Under the guidance of their mentor, the fourth-year students presented a study on solutions to environmental problems in the Aral Sea. International experts noted the innovativeness and practical value of the proposed solutions.
