The First Meeting of the Regional Steering Group of the BOMCA 11 Programme Held in Bishkek

On May 20, 2026, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bishkek, hosted the first meeting of the Regional Steering Group of the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 11).
Alongside international experts in the field, representatives of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan took part in the work of the conference.
This meeting, organized with the support of the European Union, was dedicated to the analysis of current achievements and the mutual discussion of plans to strengthen regional border security. The event brought together specialists to deliberate on issues related to effective border management as a key factor for stability and high economic development in the Central Asian countries.
Within the framework of the event, particular emphasis was placed on the modernization of the technical facilities of border control agencies and the implementation of advanced information technologies and innovative solutions. Meeting participants discussed in detail steps toward a coordinated response to common cross-border and transit threats, as well as the enhancement of the business environment. A dedicated session for the exchange of views focused on the development of border communities and the strengthening of trust between neighboring states. Based on the meeting’s results, an updated work plan aimed at deepening multilateral cooperation was reviewed.
The active participation of our Service’s representatives in numerous international conferences, forums, and international events conducted on humanitarian issues serves as further evidence of the responsible approach of our Independent, Neutral Motherland toward migration-related matters, as well as the successful implementation of its humanitarian policy.
