Currently, relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit, are being taken to a new level. Multilateral cooperation between the two countries is also effective. This is clearly demonstrated by the consistent support of each other’s international initiatives by Turkmenistan and Malaysia within the framework of major international organizations, in particular the United Nations.
The official visit of our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Malaysia in 2024 became a particularly important stage in the history of interstate dialogue and opened a new page in the history of bilateral cooperation.
The oil and gas sector is one of the strategic directions of economic cooperation between our countries. The long-term and fruitful work of the Malaysian company Petronas in Turkmenistan is a vivid example of long-term and reliable investment cooperation. The rich experience accumulated during joint work in the Caspian Sea today forms a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in the field of deep processing of hydrocarbon resources, petrochemistry and the introduction of advanced environmentally friendly technologies into production.
At the same time, as a result of the agreements reached at the highest level, Turkmenistan and Malaysia intend to expand the scope of cooperation beyond the fuel and energy sector. Promising areas such as the transport and logistics system, high technologies and agriculture are in the spotlight.
Cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere is the driving force of Turkmen-Malaysian relations. In this regard, the science and education sector plays a special role.
Thus, the high-level talks to be held in Ashgabat and the agreements to be reached during them will be an important step in the further development of cooperation between the two friendly countries in a wide range of areas.
