Kazakhstan’s cultural capital is preparing to become a major hub for filmmakers from the Commonwealth of Independent States. From June 24 to 25, Almaty will host the first “Central Asia+” film forum, designed to strengthen intercultural dialogue and give a strong start to new joint film projects in the region, according to the country’s International Film Center.
Organizational support for this large-scale event is provided by ROSKINO, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States.
The main hub for business networking will be the “House of Friendship,” bringing together heads of leading national film studios, producers, and experts from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. During panel discussions and working sessions, delegates will discuss strategic prospects for regional cooperation, share experiences in implementing modern technologies in film production, and outline plans for co-productions.
In addition to the professional track, the organizers have prepared a rich cultural program for residents and visitors. The Arman Cinema will host open screenings of films from participating countries across a variety of genres, showcasing the diversity and uniqueness of the cultural heritage of the Commonwealth states. Experts believe this forum will lay a solid foundation for long-term partnerships and serve as an effective stimulus for the development of national film industries through the promotion of shared humanitarian values.
