A football competition for students from sports schools was held at the Ashgabat stadium in the capital, organized by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan jointly with the Specialized Children’s and Youth Olympic Reserve School. The tournament was part of the summer recreation program and aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and mass sports among young people, according to the country’s IIC.
Participants in two age categories – those born in 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 – competed for the championship. Matches were held in a round-robin format, allowing for an objective assessment of each team’s level of preparation. The intense competition fostered team spirit, discipline, and helped hone the young athletes’ professional skills.
Following a close-fought competition, the SMM+ team emerged victorious in the 2013-2014 category, while the Gökje team emerged victorious among players born in 2015-2016. At the closing ceremony, the winners and runners-up were presented with cups, medals, certificates of honor, and commemorative gifts.
The organizers emphasized that such competitions not only provide children with useful and active recreation during the summer holidays, but also serve as a reliable foundation for training a new generation of Turkmen athletes.
