The second half of this year promises to be exceptionally eventful for Turkmenistan’s foreign and domestic policy. Speaking at an expanded government meeting on July 10, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the holding of a number of large-scale forums. Specifically, a major international summit is planned for the Caspian coast in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. The head of state instructed that special attention be paid to the proper organization of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Furthermore, in connection with Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State is scheduled to be held at the highest level.
Key events are also expected within the country. One of the key socio-political events of the season will be the next meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan. This highest representative body of people’s power plans to thoroughly analyze the achievements of national development, summarize the results of the work accomplished, and approve strategic objectives for the future.
To prepare for this forum, the President ordered the formation of a special organizing committee, which will include representatives of the Khalk Maslakhaty and the Mejlis, the Cabinet of Ministers, municipalities, relevant ministries, industry agencies, and public organizations. The organizing committee will not only determine the exact date and location of the meeting but also thoroughly consider the nomination of state awards and honorary titles for citizens who have made significant contributions to the country’s political, economic, and cultural prosperity.
