UNICEF, together with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, organized a two-day consultation workshop on the development of preschool education. The meeting focused on play-based, inquiry-based, and child-centered learning.
Representatives from the Ministry of Education, the National Institute of Education, pedagogical universities, and specialists and methodologists from across the country participated in the event. UNICEF International Expert Christian Fabbi served as the keynote speaker. As part of his visit, he is also visiting kindergartens in Ashgabat and consulting with national partners on improving teacher training.
Workshop participants discussed international experience, practical examples, and curricular revisions to bring teacher training in line with global standards.
As UNICEF Deputy Representative in Turkmenistan Zhanar Sagimbayeva noted, the early years are a key period for development, and the introduction of modern methods will help every child in the country reach their full potential from the very beginning.
The initiative also aims to update the curriculum framework and strengthen the early learning system, ensuring that children are well prepared for school and life.
