Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Mirbek Mambetaliev presented the cultural program of the VI World Nomad Games, which will be held from August 31 to September 6.
According to him, the Games are not limited to sports events, but have become an “Olympics of nomadic civilization”, combining ethno-sports, ethno-culture, science and traditional knowledge.
“Nomadic culture is not just a cultural heritage associated with the past, but a living philosophy based on environmental responsibility, mobility, adaptation to change and openness to the world,” the minister said.
As he noted, the main goal of the games is to demonstrate the interconnection of ancient traditions and modern global processes.
The cultural program will be held at five venues. The main one will be the ethno-town “Nomad World. Living Heritage”, which will be organized in Kyrchyn etno village. Here, guests will be able to get acquainted with the traditional life, crafts, national cuisine, customs and culture of nomadic peoples.
Issyk-Kul to host international festival of traditional music called “Nomad Heritage”. Manas storytellers, dastan writers, musicians and folk singers will demonstrate their skills. The international scientific conference dedicated to the preservation and development of traditional knowledge will also took place.
The “Nomad” complex will act as another cultural venue. It will feature traditional culture and contemporary art trends — ethno fashion, dance, music, youth projects, and ethno graffiti.
An ethno-hip-hop festival called “Ethno nomad” will be held at the Cholpon-Ata equestrian arena, showcasing a combination of traditional culture and modern musical genres.
The fifth platform will be the ArtLab creative laboratory. Artists and sculptors from different countries will create works dedicated to the philosophy and heritage of nomadic civilization.
Mirbek Mambetaliev noted that participation in cultural competitions will be free of charge, and an international jury in the field of art and culture will evaluate the works and creative performances.
The minister called on the SCO member states to actively participate in VI World Nomad Games, noting that Kyrgyzstan strives to create a space where ancient heritage will be revived in a modern way and international cultural dialogue will develop.
