Moldova intends to join the European Union by 2030, and will therefore attempt to open all channels of negotiations with Brussels by the end of the summer. According to Armenpress, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, leader of the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), announced this.
During the 2025 parliamentary elections, President Maia Sandu and her ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) promised that Moldova would join the EU by 2028, although the previous target was 2030. The latest PAS program postponed the accession deadline indefinitely.
“We continue to convince our European partners that we deserve to open all six negotiating clusters by the end of this summer. We continue to fulfill the conditions and pass laws as if we had already made an official political decision to open all clusters,” Grosu said on Moldova 1.
He believes that Moldova “must complete negotiations with the European Union by 2028 in order to become a member of the community by 2030.” Grosu noted that the country needs to open four more negotiating clusters, and Chisinau has already begun technical preparations for these processes.
