Registration for the 2026 World Russian Language Championship among Foreigners has opened in the international educational space, according to the country’s International Information Center.
The project, aimed at promoting the Russian language and expanding intercultural dialogue, is rapidly gaining popularity: over the past two years, the geographic scope and number of participants in the competition have doubled, bringing together over 4000 representatives from 66 countries.
Teams of four are eligible to participate in this large-scale intellectual competition. Each team consists of a mentor and three Russian-language experts between the ages of 16 and 35, who hold foreign citizenship or stateless status. Qualifying rounds will be held online from July to October of this year in three separate divisions – for non-CIS countries, CIS countries, and international students studying at Russian universities. Registration is open at russianchampionship.com until October 1.
Based on the results of the remote round, the thirty strongest teams will receive an invitation to Moscow to participate in the in-person final. In addition to a packed competition program, the finalists will enjoy cultural and educational events. The main prizes for the winners will be a challenge cup, the honorary title of “World Champion of the Russian Language,” and a unique opportunity to study free of charge at leading Russian universities under a government quota.
