A yearlong academic internship for students from the Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan at the University of Tsukuba is ending, as reported by turkmenistan.gov.tm.
From October to August, three talented third-year students—Merdan Allamyradov, Selbi Mammetalieva, and Shasenem Shaberdieva—underwent intensive training at one of Asia’s most prestigious research centers. This trip was a significant practical outcome of the current Memorandum of Academic Exchange between the Turkmen and Japanese universities.
The young scientists’ curriculum proved to be extremely rigorous, encompassing several key areas: from engineering and technological innovation to the humanities and international research. Under the guidance of leading Japanese professors, the students not only attended specialized lectures and participated in scientific seminars but also made significant progress in mastering the Japanese language. Their rapid adaptation and deep immersion in the international academic environment were facilitated by their active participation in the university’s CASA and Omochi Language Club centers, where they interacted daily with peers from around the world.
Beyond their studies, the Turkmen students took on an important educational mission, becoming true ambassadors of their country’s culture. Throughout the academic year, they regularly presented to audiences at the University of Tsukuba on the centuries-old history, rich heritage, and contemporary achievements of Turkmenistan. International faculty and new friends from various countries received traditional Turkmen souvenirs as gifts. Furthermore, the students established close collaboration with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan, assisting in the preparation and implementation of key official and cultural events.
The students’ return to Ashgabat, armed with cutting-edge knowledge, international practical experience, and mature research findings, marks the successful conclusion of this latest stage of partnership. This case clearly demonstrates how Turkmen education is confidently integrating into the global scientific community, taking collaboration between Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology and the University of Tsukuba to a qualitatively new level.
