On July 30, 2026, a meeting was held between the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D.Gulmanova and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Turkmenistan Xiaojun Grace Wang.
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the National Parliament congratulated Xiaojun Grace Wang on her appointment as the Resident Coordinatorof the United Nations in Turkmenistan and wished success in her responsible diplomatic work aimed at further developing the fruitful partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Nations.
Xiaojun Grace Wang was introduced to the main directions of the internal and peace-loving external policy of Turkmenistan based on the principles of positive Neutrality, peace-loving, humanism, trust, the structure of the Mejlis and multilateral activities carried out to ensure the legal framework for the programmatic reforms being implemented in our country.
At the meeting was emphasized that supporting the initiative of Turkmenistan to declare 2028 the «Year of International Law» proposed on the plenary session of the 80th anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly will be of great importance in enhancing the role of international law in the world, ensuring global peace and security, achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, further developing effective multilateral cooperation, and will provide a positive impetus for the consolidation of the efforts of the world states in the interests of humanity. Attention was drawn to the importance of our country’s important initiatives aimed at ensuring energy security, developing transit transport corridors and protecting the environment.
The parties noted that the consistent and highly effective nature of the partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Nations and its specialized agencies. During the meeting was emphasized the importance of the training seminars held jointly by the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF and the Population Fund on the protection of human rights and freedoms, ensuring reproductive health and family well-being, environmental protection, climate change and the modernization of current legislation in the areas of sustainable use of water resources and the exchange of experiences, strengthening bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D.Gulmanova invited the Permanent Representative of the United Nations to Turkmenistan Xiaojun Grace Wang to participate as a guest of honor in the International Women’s Dialogue and the Conference on Demographic issues, which will be held in the «Awaza» National Tourist Zone within the framework of our country’s Chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of state of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
