An event dedicated to International Youth Day took place at the indoor sports complex of the capital’s Olympic Village (Sportuň oýun görnüşleri). The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the State Committee organized the event for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan.
The celebratory program brought together approximately 200 young men and women—volunteers, students, athletes, and young professionals. The main concept reflected the year’s global theme: uniting the shared aspirations and goals of the younger generation amidst the diversity of individual lives and professional contexts.
The event opened with a welcome address from Kemal Goshlyev, Head of the UNFPA Office in Turkmenistan, and a representative of the country’s State Sports Committee. The speakers emphasized the key role of youth initiatives in the country’s socioeconomic development and the importance of creating equal opportunities for each citizen to realize their full potential.
The program’s central event was a simulated roundtable discussion. Representatives from various fields—environmental activists, IT developers, bloggers, young entrepreneurs, artists, and individuals with disabilities—shared their success stories, discussed overcoming stereotypes, and solving everyday problems in an open dialogue format.
The forum continued with interactive thematic platforms, where participants acquired useful practical skills through a series of dynamic 15-minute master classes. The program covered a wide range of relevant topics: from the basics of blogging, media content creation and IT technologies to sustainable development, climate action, and environmental responsibility. Special attention was paid to promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and reproductive health. Young artists also led engaging creative workshops for the guests.
The program continued with a gymnastics demonstration by students from the Ashgabat Sports School and the Turkmenistan Gymnastics Federation. The young athletes’ performance escalated into a collaborative, interactive flash mob, bringing together all guests and participants.

Concluding the meeting, representatives of UNFPA and the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports summarized the day’s events, noting the high level of participation and expressing confidence that such platforms serve as a powerful incentive for strengthening dialogue, mutual support, and promoting the creative ideas of Turkmenistan’s youth.
