On August 15, The Embassy of India in Ashgabat celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day. To the celebration ceremony attended members of the local Indian community, Turkmen friends of India, journalists, and bloggers.
The celebration began with the India’s national song, “Vande Mataram” singing with all the attendees. Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu then raised the Indian flag as the national anthem, “Jana Gana Mana,” while the song played.
During the event, the Ambassador read a speech from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. He also spoke to the guests, emphasizing India’s strong relationship and friendship with Turkmenistan.
The program included a yoga demonstration and performances of patriotic Indian songs. During the events, the winners of the “Bharat Ko Janiye” (Know India) quiz announced. The Ambassador awarded the top five participants to the quiz.
Guests also visited a photo exhibition celebrating the 150th anniversary of the song “Vande Mataram.” The event ended with guests enjoying traditional Indian snacks.
