The Turkmenistan Judo Team will compete in the prestigious Grand Slam tournament, which will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, from August 28 to 30, according to the country’s International Judo Information Center.

The delegation consists of ten athletes—eight men and two women. Among them is renowned Turkmen judoka and student at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, Maisa Pardayeva, who will compete for medals in the 57 kg weight category. Medine Oraznyyazova will also represent the women’s team in this category.

In the mens’ part of the team – Ural Bakhtiyarov and Ygtyyar Gurbanberdiev (up to 60 kg), Serdar Rakhimov (up to 66 kg), Meilis Shamuradov and Allamyrat Annagurbanov (up to 73 kg), Agadzhan Aykhanov and Batyr Merdanov (up to 81 kg), as well as Baymyrat Madzhanov (up to 100 kg).

Need to mention that, Maisa Pardayeva won a bronze medal at the tournament in Ulaanbaatar, defeating titled opponents from South Korea and Israel.

Participation in the Grand Slam tournament will be an important step in preparing Turkmen athletes for the key international competitions of the season.
