Turkmenistan’s humanitarian sector continues to actively strengthen cultural ties internationally. Akmyrat Rejepov, a representative of the country’s Ministry of Culture, participated in a major meeting of writers and poets from TURKSOY member states, held in Andijan, Uzbekistan, the 2026 Cultural Capital of the Turkic World. The Turkmen side’s participation in such a prestigious forum underscores the country’s continued commitment to developing international cultural diplomacy, promoting its national heritage, and deepening spiritual dialogue between fraternal peoples.
During a large-scale event organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture jointly with the Ministry of Culture and the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan, representatives of Turkmenistan, along with colleagues from participating countries, discussed key areas of joint work. The focus was on the creation of a unified digital literary platform, the development of a shared electronic library, and large-scale projects to translate works by Turkmen and Turkic classics into world languages.
Forum delegates examined in detail initiatives for joint participation in international book fairs and poetry festivals, and also developed proposals for the TURKSOY Writers’ Union’s 2027 work plan, where the creative potential of Turkmenistan’s literary masters will take pride of place.
As part of the cultural program, the Turkmen delegation also took part in a conference dedicated to the creative legacy of Turkish poet and thinker Ziya Gökalp. The meeting resulted in a reaffirmation of Turkmenistan’s significant role in preserving and enriching the common literary space of the Turkic world and the presentation of letters of gratitude for its contribution to strengthening intercultural cooperation.
