At the upcoming CIS summit in Turkmenistan on October 9, the Council of Heads of State will consider a draft resolution declaring 2028 the Year of Social Development and Quality of Life. This initiative, originally proposed by the Kyrgyz Republic, aims to strengthen the socio-demographic potential of Commonwealth countries, stimulate employment, and improve the well-being of citizens throughout Central Asia and neighboring regions.
Preparations for this large-scale event are already underway. At a meeting of the Working Group of the Advisory Council on Labor, Employment, and Social Protection held in Minsk, representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan discussed the plan for the upcoming events. Specialists from the CIS Executive Committee, the Interparliamentary Assembly, the Interstate Statistical Committee, as well as delegates from trade unions and veterans’ organizations also participated in the expert-analytical meeting.
The meeting participants thoroughly reviewed the proposals received, making the necessary additions and clarifications to the final document. Work on coordinating the plan will continue in September, chaired by the Belarusian side and involving public bodies and key CIS organizations. Following this, the agreed-upon draft document will be submitted to the CIS leaders for approval.
