The traditional international festival of national dishes and cultures, “Tasanno,” took place in the capital of Uzbekistan, becoming a vibrant platform for strengthening intercultural dialogue and public diplomacy, according to the country’s International Information Center.
Organized at the initiative of the Sister Cities Alliance, this celebration has been uniting nations through culinary arts and distinctive traditions since 2004. Representatives of diplomatic missions, friendship societies, and cultural centers from Turkmenistan, India, Belarus, Palestine, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Poland, Algeria, Pakistan, and Slovakia participated in this large-scale event.
The festival’s key event was a presentation of national cuisines and festive dastarkhans, where the jury assessed the authenticity of the recipes, the subtleties of table setting, and the aesthetics of the presentation. The culinary portion of the festival was complemented by performances by creative groups performing folk songs and dances, as well as a photo exhibition dedicated to the project’s more than twenty-year history.
The festival concluded with a gala awards ceremony, once again proving that culinary and cultural traditions serve as a universal language of communication and bring nations together.
