Faculty from the Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan have embarked on a long-term internship in Japan. From October 11 to December 25, the international training program “Improving Engineering Teaching Methods” is being held at the University of Tsukuba, organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as reported by the turkmenistan.gov.tm.

The Turkmen delegation included four specialists representing key areas of the university: Mukhammetmyrat Matiev (Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology), Atamyrat Altiyev (Faculty of Chemical and Nanotechnology), as well as Selbi Gulmukhammedova and Aylar Geldieva (Faculty of Biotechnology and Ecology).

The main goal of the trip is to improve the quality of engineering education and adopt the best practices of their Japanese colleagues. During the training, Turkmen teachers will master modern methods of curriculum development, organizing subject modules, and assessing student knowledge. Particular attention will be paid to practical aspects: participation in laboratory work, scientific supervision methods, and conducting research in innovative areas such as artificial intelligence, digital educational materials, materials science, nanobiosensors, and food biotechnology.

The JICA program aims to transfer the effective Japanese model of engineering education and subsequently adapt it to the national needs of partner countries. Long-standing cooperation with the University of Tsukuba plays a significant role in strengthening scientific and technical ties between Turkmenistan and Japan. The acquired knowledge and skills will help faculty implement new teaching methods, develop relevant teaching materials, and contribute to the training of a new generation of highly qualified engineering professionals.
