Turkmenistan is embarking on a major modernization project for one of the country’s key transportation arteries. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree authorizing the Ministry of Roads to award contracts for the design and construction of the new 546-kilometer Ashgabat-Dashoguz highway.
The project is being implemented as part of the country’s Socioeconomic Development Program for 2022-2028. In addition to the highway itself, the project includes the construction of a new 812-meter-long highway bridge, as well as a comprehensive reconstruction of all bridge structures along the entire route.
The implementation of this large-scale infrastructure project will significantly increase the capacity of the highway linking the capital with the northern region and ensure traffic flows in accordance with high international safety standards.
