The Kazakh government has allocated 1.1 billion tenge (2.21 million dollars) from the Reserve Fund for comprehensive study and conservation of the Caspian Sea, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov signed a decree on allocating funds to the Kazakh Research Institute of the Caspian Sea (KRI).
The press service reported that the funds were intended for the purchase of equipment for marine monitoring, as well as equipping hydrobiological and hydrochemical laboratories.
“This measure will allow the Research Institute to directly conduct comprehensive monitoring of the sea, including systematic monitoring of hydrometeorological and biological parameters of the environment, and expand the science-based basis for processes in the Kazakhstani part of the sea,” the report said.
