Russia changes entry rules

From July 1, 2026, new requirements will come into force for citizens of the CIS countries with visa-free regime in Russia, as reported by the en.kabar.kg, siting to Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration informs.
In this regard, the following are required to enter the territory of Russia:
• download the RuID mobile application via the App Store or Google Play;
• register by providing passport data;
• indicate the purpose of the trip, dates of entry and exit, as well as the destination region;
• upload your photo, biometric data and voice recording to your personal account;
• apply for entry and receive a QR code that will be shown at border control.
• QR code is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.
The application must be submitted at least 72 hours before crossing the state border. However, in emergency situations, such as a serious illness or death of a close relative, it is allowed to submit an application at least 4 hours before entry.
At the same time, the requirement to undergo mandatory biometric identification of foreign citizens at entry points to Russia remains in force. It includes taking a photograph of citizens and taking fingerprints.

“It is also noted that the period of temporary stay in Russia has been extended for professional drivers of CIS member states engaged in international road transport. If they submit an application in the established manner stating the purpose of entry into Russia and stay (or residence) in the country, their period of temporary stay will be extended to a total of 180 days within one calendar year,” the information says.
The ministry recommends that citizens planning to visit Russia for work or study purposes familiarize themselves with the new requirements in advance and register using the RuID application. This will help prevent possible difficulties when crossing the border.
