The Embassy of Italy in Turkmenistan is organising the XXVI edition of the Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo (Week of the Italian Language in the World) in Ashgabat from 9 to 12 October 2026.
An initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the Week is celebrated worldwide through the Italian diplomatic network. This year’s theme, “Lingua geniale: ideare, progettare, creare con l’italiano,” highlights Italian creativity, design and innovation.
From 10 to 12 October, the Embassy will participate with a dedicated stand in the International Exhibition “Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State,” held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the Italian language, culture and educational opportunities in Italy thanks to the presence of two guests from the University for Foreigners of Perugia: the Director of the International Student Department and the Director of CELI. They will conduct seminars for students of Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the Dovletmammet Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages and the International University for the Humanities and Development.
On 11 October at 17:00, an information session on Italian language proficiency certification will take place at the Iş Nokady Centre, with the participation of Prof. Giovanna Scocozza. The session will be open to students, teachers and all members of the public interested in learning Italian and obtaining certification of their language proficiency.
The initiative will further strengthen cultural and academic cooperation between Italy and Turkmenistan, promote exchanges between educational institutions and deepen the friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
