A ceremonial gathering to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) was held at May Day Stadium in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday. The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported this on Friday.
Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of State Affairs of the DPRK, delivered a speech. Delegations from foreign parties and governments also participated in the event.
In his address, Kim Jong Un recounted the party’s history and its leading role in the country’s revolution.
He stated that, by successfully implementing social reforms at various stages under the banner of the Juche idea, the WPK has built a genuine people’s country, a powerful state that comprehensively embodies socialist ideas and ideals and makes a significant contribution to advancing the international cause of independence and justice.
Kim Jong Un stated that despite all the severe trials, the WPK steadfastly and proudly upholds the banner of independence and socialism. The international prestige of the DPRK, a staunch supporter of socialist forces and a bulwark of independence and justice, continues to grow.
He declared that he would work together with the North Korean people to transform the country into a richer and more beautiful socialist state.
A grandiose mass gymnastics and artistic performance followed the General Secretary’s speech on Thursday evening, according to KCNA.
