On September 26, a festive reception organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea was held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel to mark the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence, the 30th anniversary of permanent Neutrality, and the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The reception was attended by senior officials and staff of the Government of the Republic of Korea, the National Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries and state agencies, representatives of public organizations, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states accredited in Seoul, Turkmen students studying at higher education institutions in the Republic of Korea, as well as members of the media.
As the guest of honor on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Lee Jae-woong, Deputy Minister for Public Affairs and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, attended the event.
In his remarks, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea, B.Durdyyev, spoke about the historic transformations carried out in our country over the years of independence, the achievements in the political, socio-economic, humanitarian and other priority spheres, as well as the large-scale initiatives undertaken under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, aimed at ensuring a prosperous and happy life for the people and strengthening the principles of peace, friendship and good-neighborliness worldwide.
The Ambassador also noted that the resolution “2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust,” initiated by Turkmenistan and unanimously adopted at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly with 86 co-sponsoring states, can be regarded as confirmation by the international community of Turkmenistan’s peace-oriented foreign policy.
In turn, Mr. Lee Jae-woong, Deputy Minister for Public Affairs and Spokesperson of the Republic of Korea, noted that Turkmen–Korean relations, founded on the principles of mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation, are reaching a high level thanks to the efforts of the Heads of the two states. He emphasized that this was confirmed by the telephone conversation on August 29, 2025, between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung, and the issues discussed during it. In this connection, it was confirmed that cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea has significant potential.
As part of the reception, an exhibition of national decorative and applied arts was organized, reflecting various sectors and achievements of our country.
During the event, guests were served traditional Turkmen dishes.
