The Oguzkhan Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan has entered the gold category of the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, according to the online newspaper “Turkmenistan: Golden Age.”
The university scored a record-breaking 7,675 points out of 10,000 and ranked 306th among 1,745 universities from 105 countries. This is an improvement over last year: in 2022, the university ranked 637th, in 2023, 432nd, and in 2024, 328th.
Of the 12 Turkmen universities included in the ranking, Oguzkhan University demonstrated the best results. Experts evaluate universities based on six criteria: infrastructure and buildings, energy and climate, waste management, water resources, green transportation, education, and research.
To be included in the gold category, a university must score more than 7,500 points. This level reflects the university’s outstanding work in sustainable development, green infrastructure, and education.
This is the fourth consecutive year the university has been included in the ranking, demonstrating steady growth in its environmental indicators. This achievement confirms the country’s efforts to bring the national education system up to global standards and to attract Turkmen universities to the ranks of leading higher education institutions worldwide.
This achievement also underscores the state’s focus on ecology, environmental protection, and the development of science in this area. Turkmenistan consistently fulfills its international obligations and participates in agreements and conventions on the sustainable use of natural resources.
